TOLU'S COMMITMENT

My name is Tolu Folarin (pronounced "Toe-loo Foh-lah-reen").  As a proud Black woman who migrated to Canada at the age of 15 to study at the University of Regina, I understand the challenges and triumphs that shape our diverse communities. Unlike many students who move away from the city after graduation, I chose to stay in Regina and give back to the city that has given me so much. My journey is driven by a passion for education and a commitment to social justice. 

With both a Bachelor’s (UofR) and a Master’s degree in Social Work (UofT), I am committed to lifelong learning and advocating for those who need it most. My education equips me to tackle root issues and create meaningful change. 

As a mother of three, I see the importance of supportive and inclusive educational environments.  I believe every child deserves access to quality education and resources. My experiences as a parent and a professional have reinforced my belief in the power of community, collaboration, and innovation to ensure every member of our society can thrive.

I’ve actively served on boards, co-founded initiatives, and launched programs to improve lives in Regina, including founding ZAO Innovation Hub and starting Full Life programs in 2020. These programs reflect our community’s diversity and equip children for a bright future.

I recently ran for Regina Public School Board Trustee to amplify the voices of parents, teachers, and students and ensure resources are allocated effectively. While the election didn't turn out as I hoped, my passion for education and advocacy remains strong.

I am now focused on coaching, consulting, and counseling to continue transforming lives and empowering our communities.
